This mountain has a legendary story about  two dragons. According to the local people, once upon a time, there were two dragons playing together. Suddenly, a fierce flood came. A dragon quickly flew up to the sky however the other ones runed slower, trapped and turned to stone. The body dragon looked towards the dragon which had flown away.

So, the people called this name as Ham Rong mountain. Another story is about Ham Rong mountain. 

According to legend, there were three dragon brothers. At that time, all living creatures lived together, so, the Jade Emperor decided each animal to establish its own territory. 

However, the three dragon brothers didn't care. One day, when there was not much land left, they just found the land. An unlucky thing happened, the youngest dragon couldn't catch up with his older brothers and lost between other beasts. 

Two older brothers came back to rescue but the time for claiming territory ended, they turned into stone. The youngest brother became Ham Rong mountain, the other two dragons were two large mountain ranges on either side. 

Best time to visit the mountain

If you are traveling to Ham Rong mountain, the best time to visit this  spot is from January to April. The weather is lush and mild, not rain and fog. So, you can explore many outdoor activities. 

Besides, you can visit Ham Rong mountain from April to June. Tourists have an opportunity to see terraced rice fields in Sapa.

If visitors want to hunt clouds, you should visit Sapa from October to December. At this time, it is cloudy and foggy. So, you can chase clouds easily. 

What to do in Ham Rong mountain
