Dinh Cau temple is also known as Dinh Cau rock temple or Cau temple, located about 200m west of Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc. 

The temple was constructed atop a rock outcrop towarding the sea and is the most spiritual site in Phu Quoc island. In 2012, the temple was recognized as a provincial relic of Kien Giang province.

History of Dinh Cau temple

Dinh Cau temple was built in the 17th century to worship the princess of Jade and her two sons : Prince Quy and Prince Tai. According to the locals, the local fishermen can't return from the sea because of the harsh storm.

However, one day, the locals see a rock formation emerging at a river mouth and from it lead a safe passage. The fishermen don't worry when caught fish away from shore. So, locals decided to build a shire here.
