The Fine Arts Museum is one of the biggest and largest museums in Ho Chi Minh city, was constructed in 1929 and officially opened in 1934. This museum is combined with Asian and European architectural styles by the French architect designed - Rivera. 

Before, the museum was the home of Hua Bon Hoa who was a wealthy Chinese Vietnamese businessman. Some famous construction in Vietnam was himself such as Tu Du hospital and Majestic hotel.

Ho Chi Minh Museum Of Fine Art displays an extensive collection of sculptures, paintings, and artifacts, becoming a symbol of the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese fine arts. Besides, this place witnessed the development of the city from war to unification in 1975.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh has three story buildings, and was designed blending Eastern and Western influences. The high point of the museum is the yellow facade, arched windows, and U-shaped structure. There is a courtyard and fountain.

Especially, Ho Chi Minh Museum Of Fine Art was the first building in Saigon to have an elevator designed to resemble a traditional Chinese palanquin. The fusion of Asian and European artistry is shown through the red-tiled yin-yang roof and stained glass windows. 

The museum spans 3.514m2, dividing 4 areas such as the basement ( Administrative offices), First floor ( Galleries, exhibitions, and trade spaces), Second floor (Fine arts paintings) and Third floor (Antique sculptures and traditional handicrafts from South Vietnam).

At the entrance, you can see a grand lobby with pillars and twin staircases. Looking up at the arch, the height text is H.B.H ( Hua Bon Hoa’s initials) engraved in steel.

Strolling along the corridors, you can admire the galley rooms. The museum is bright and fresh air thanks to its  large windows and high ceilings, natural light floods the interior.

How to get to Fine Art Museum in Ho Chi Minh city

The Ho Chi Minh Museum Of Fine Art is located on Pho Duc Chinh street, Ho Chi Minh city. So, you can easily approach by many vehicles such as motorbike, private car, bus and taxi. 

From Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica Saigon, go ahead from Le Duan street, turn left to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street. At the crossroad with Nguyen Thai Binh Street, you turn right and go 200m, the museum is facing in your eyes. 

Taking a bus is the cheapest way. Some most popular bus routes are numbered 03, 04, 152, 18, 19, 53, 56, 93, or 96. Besides, you can rent a motorbike, however the traffic in Saigon is weird. So, the best choice for you is renting a private car with a driver to see many famous attractions in Saigon.
