Duong Lam Ancient Village is located in Son Tay Ward, Hanoi, only 44 kilometers away from the city center. It is right next to the intersection between Ho Chi Minh Road and National Road 32, which makes it very convenient for tourists to visit.

Duong Lam Ancient Village is situated next to the intersection between Ho Chi Minh road and National Roa 32,  Son Tay Ward, about 44km from the city center. 

In the past, Duong Lam commune has played an important role in agriculture and industry in Northern Vietnam. According to experts, there were 9 hamlets scattered around 1200 years ago.

Duong Lam village was the first ancient village in Vietnam in 2005 and was recognized as the National Cultural and Historical Relic. In 2014, Duong Lam was awarded the Asia Pacific Awards Cultural Heritage Conservation by UNESCO. With conservation of five brick houses in Duong Lam, the village attracts a large number of both international and local people. 

Duong Lam village still retains the art and architecture of an ancient village in the Red River Delta.

Best time to visit Duong Lam Ancient Village in Hanoi

Tourists can visit Duong Lam anytime. If you want to discover many activities in this village, the best time to visit Duong Lam village is during the festival season and the harvest season. 

The festival of Duong Lam Ancient Village occurs in the first lunar month of the year. You feel the bustling atmosphere and enjoy special dishes. Besides, you can enjoy many interesting activities such as palankeens, folk games, offerings,... 

Tourists can visit Duong Lam village from May to June. This is the harvest season. Visiting a rice field, strolling around the rice and dry straws, brings a peaceful scenery. 

What to do in Duong Lam ancient village?

Mong Phu village gate was constructed under Le Dynasty and is the oldest architectural gate in Duong Lam ancient village. The gate was built with laterite pillars and an ironwood gate. There is a large lake on the right of the gate and an ancient tree of thousands of years old on the left. The gate of Mong Phu village became a famous place to take photos when coming to Duong Lam ancient village.

Mong Phu communal house

The Mong Phu communal house was built nearly 380 years ago, one of the typical works in the Northern village. The house has a span of 1800m2. The construction was designed with a ethnic architecture, having wooden floors and separated from the ground. Stepping on the house, you can see several ancient parallel sentences of hundred of years ago.

Giang Van Minh worship house

This place worships the merits of Giang Van Minh. The king Le Than Tong, assigned a task to respond to the Minh court and protect the honor of the nation. You can learn more about history and culture and educate young people about patriotic traditions. 

Duong Lam ancient well

You can see several ancient wells in Duong Lam ancient village. In Vietnamese villages, the well is the soul of many traditional villages. People used to get water every day in the past.

Phung Hung Temple

Visiting Duong Lam village, you should visit Phung Hung temple who was the leader during the Chinese colonial period in Vietnam. After that, Pham Hung built an autonomous government and ruled 

After he died, many local people built a temple to worship the contributions. Besides, this is the largest and most sacred one in Duong Lam village. 

The mausoleum and temple of Ngo Quyen

Located 500m away from Phung Hung Temple is the complex of Ngo Quyen Mausoleum and Temple. Standing in the temple, you can see a large rice field and the Lom Valley. Before, Pham Hung defeated a tiger to protect the local people. Strolling around 100m in the south, you can see the Ngo Quyen mausoleum.

How to get to Duong Lam ancient village?

Duong Lam Ancient Village is approximately 44km away from Hanoi city. You can choose many forms of transportation to transfer to the ancient village, such as motorbike, bus, or private car.

Taking a motorbike is the best choice for those who love the freedom to adjust their itinerary and admire the scenery. The bus is the cheapest vehicle to get to Duong Lam Village. Transfer to get to buses numbered 20A, 70, 71, and 77 to transfer to Duong Lam Ancient Village. 

The best choice to transfer from Hanoi city to Duong Lam Village is to rent a private car with a driver. Tourists will feel freedom, comfort, and privacy to enjoy many attractions in Hanoi.
