Han river, also known as Han Giang, begins at the confluence of the river, the confluence between Cam Le and Vinh Dien rivers. 

In the French colonial period, local people called this river the Danang river. The river starts at the source from a south-north direction, flowing through the city center into Danang Bay with a length of about 7.2km.

The river has a width of 900-1200m, the depth of 4-5m, creating a traffic system with the districts of Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le, Hoa Vang district and some districts of Quang Nam province. 

Looking on the left bank of the river, you can see a large market which is a Han market, crowded with many local people. So, it is called Han street. 

The Han river has a vital role in waterway traffic for 3,000–4,000 ton class support ships. So, there are many ships and cruise activities on the river. 

History of Han river

King Le Thanh Tong put its name as Han river. When considered the map of 13 administrative regions, he saw Thuan Hoa, which has 10 river mouths in the area, including the expansive Han Estuary. 

The King sees the river's mouth lies with Hai Van mountain, Son Tra peninsula and Hon Chao island, creating the advantage conditioned for the development of Danang in the future.

Dragon Bridge 

Dragon Bridge opened in 2013, one of the most iconic landmarks in Danang. The bridge spans 666m, having a shape of a dragon design. This is quickly becoming a good photo spot. Besides, you can see the fire and water program at 9:pm on Saturday, Sunday.

Han river bridge

Han river bridge is the first swing bridge in Vietnam, opened in 2000. The bridge stretches nearly 488m, connecting two key roads Le Duan and Pham Van Dong. 

If you want to see the bridge rotate, you come here at 1:00am on weekdays and 11:00pm on weekends. 

Thuan Phuoc Bridge

The bridge stretches 1856m in total length with a 656m suspension span and two 600m approach roads. Thuan Phuoc Bridge is 18m wide with lanes for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. You can see the sunset from the bridge or admire the city skyline lighting up after dusk.

Tran Thi Ly Bridge

Tran Thi Ly bridge has a unique architecture with  a 12 degree westward tilt and stretches 731m. When the lights illuminate its structure, the bridge changes colors and reflects off the water, creating a beautiful scenery. At the base of the bridge, there are many interesting activities to enjoy such as trying local food, taking a walk, and admiring the landscape.

Located next to Tran Thi Ly bridge, Nguyen Van Troi bridge welcomes pedestrians without traffic. During the Vietnam War, The U.S military built the bridge to transport supplies from Tien Sa Port.  Many people come to take photos, see the river, and enjoy the fresh breeze each evening. 4

The show includes 2 parts including two rounds of fire and nine bursts, lasting about 15 minutes. Along both riverbanks, there are many people to gather to get the best view.

How to get to the Han river? 

To get to Han river, you can transfer with other vehicles such as taxi, motorbike, cycle  or private car. From Danang airport, you only take about 4km by motorbike, from Dang train station, you can book a motorbike. 

The distance from Hoian ancient town to Han river is about 31km, it takes about 30 minutes by car. If you are traveling with a large group, you should book a Danang city tour to have an interesting experience.
