Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary is located not far from Cuc Phuong National Park. This is a safe refuge and rehabilitation service for rescued bears. The Sanctuary is built by FOUR PAWS which is the global animal welfare organization with the purpose of alleviating animal suffering, rescuing those in need, and ensuring their protection.

In November 2017, there were the first rescued bears . Nowadays, more than 65 rescued bears, but 19 passed away. Bear Sanctuary in Ninh Binh spans over 5,5ha. In the future, this place plans to expand it to 10ha, becoming the largest area for natural habitat, bringing a high quality of bear's life.

The unique point of Bear Sanctuary in Ninh Binh
Most bears in the sanctuary are found from illegal captivity and bile farming. There are some bears here, who have suffered more than 20 years in filth cages, in rusty and go through a difficult life.

They had no bathing, lying on concrete. The other bears became victims to unlawful cross-border wildlife trafficking when they were only a few weeks old.
When taking these bears to Bear Sanctuary, Ninh Binh, many of the bears were scared and had severe behavioral disorders. After a time, they starts a good and integrate with the new life at Bear Sanctuary.

These rescue bears will undergo a 21 day quarantine to examine and treat them by veterinarians. After 21 days, the staff took them to another place. They are offered food, health check-ups and hygiene maintenance.
