Tri  Nguyen Aquarium was built in 1971 by a local fisherman, Mr Le Can. The former name of the Aquarium is Tri Nguyen Fish Lake, with 160m in length and 130m in width, divided into 3 three parts: carnivorous fish, ornamental fish and fish for food.

After that, he wants to build an oceanic environment for a lake by way of a non sealed stone embankment to let the sea water enter and exit the lake easily. Then, he raised a lot of marine, creating a lively sea museum in Nha Trang and attracting both locals and international tourists.

In 1994, the local authority invested ten billion in Tri Nguyen Aquarium to develop it into a stunning spot, pushing forward tourism in the city. Nowadays, this place was under the management of Khanh Hoa Tourism Company.

The unique point of Tri Nguyen Lake

Tri Nguyen Aquarium, a well-known as Hon Mieu Aquarium due to its located in Hon Mieu island, which is the most crowded island and symbolize as heaven island in Nha Trang 

Entering this aquarium, you will be surprised with the huge fish tank which was built following thư construction of an ancient fossil ship. It has a length of 60m and a height of 30m.

Tri Nguyen Aquarium has 3 floors, includes:

• The first floor: A fish lake
• The second floor: A place for souvenir shops
• The third floor: Restaurants.

There are many mini scenes surrounding a huge fish tank like giant mushrooms, crabs and shrimps, becoming a stunning background for tourists to take photos. Coming to the deck of the ship, you can see a cannon and a mast. Besides, you can admire the panoramic scenery of Nha Trang sea.

Tri Nguyen Aquarium is a home to thousands of marine creatures, as the same as a miniature ocean. Besides, there are a variety of tropical plants that you can find such as casuarinas, royal orchids or tropical almond trees.

What to do in Tri Nguyen Aquarium?

Outdoor fish pond

The outdoor fish pond of Tri Nguyen Aquarium is large with an area of 150-200m2. There are many types of fish here such as mackerel, mackerel, tuna, stingray, … and shrimp and squid. As a coral stone embankment system helps a separation of this pond with a height to be equal to seal level. Surrounding the pond, many trees were grown like magnolia, casuarina, white frangipani, and round-leafed banyan.

Exploring miniature ocean inside the aquarium

Tourists can admire a miniature magical ocean down to the basement of Tri Nguyen Aquarium. There are 4 large fish ponds and some small fish tanks. You admire several rare marine species like  Picasso fish, Japanese carp, Napoleon birds, etc.

Seeing Nha Trang Bay

To admire the panoramic view of Nha Trang Bay, you can stand from the deck of Tri Nguyen Aquarium. Besides, you can take pictures or relax on the chairs shaped like marine creatures like squid, snails, fish, shrimp... 

Discovering on Bai Soi

Walking about 500m from Tri Nguyen Aquarium, you can approach Bai Soi. This is a pristine and peaceful beach. This beach has large pebbles with several unique shapes on the shore. Tourist can swim and go camping.

Don't forget to visit Royal Garden when travelling to Tri Nguyen Aquarium. There are many types of flowers and shady green trees in Royal Garden. This is a perfect place to rest and relax at this aquarium.

How to get to Tri Nguyen Aquarium?

You can easily approach Tri Nguyen Aquarium from Nha Trang. Firstly, tourists can book a private car, taxi to Vinh Truong Port. Depending on your budget, you should choose suitable transportation. From Vinh Truong Port, you get to Hon Mieu island. It takes about 20 minutes. 

Then, you can book a transfer by boat or canoe. The price of renting ranges from 500.000 to 800.000 for a trip. Besides, you can get to by wooden boat with the price of around 150.000 VND/trip.
