Thung Nham Birds Ecological Tourism Area is known as Thung Nham tourist area, located in Hai Nham village, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. This place is about 13,5km away from Ninh Binh city and 16km away from Hanoi city center.

What to see Thung Nham?

Visiting Thung Nham Bird Garden 

There are more than 40 species of birds with a population of about 50.000 in Thung Nham Bird Garden with a large number of rare birds like phoenixes, flamingos, etc.

To observe the bird in its natural habitat, you should stand from the park area. Tourists can transfer by a boat tour past the lakes and wetlands in the park.

Discover But Cave

With a length of about 500m, But cave is the largest and most charming  in Thung Nham. Going deep in the cave, you can see stalactites looking like a Buddha sitting next to the river. This is the reason that the cave is called "But Cave". For the local people, the Buddha's natural stone statue in the cave offers peace and protection to humans. 

Explore Vai Gioi cave

Walking about 200m from the gate of Thung Nham Eco-tourism area, you can see Vai Gioi cave on the right hand side. To visit this cave, you must climb 400 stone steps.

The cave is 3 floors, a width of 500m2 with a thousand of shimmering,mysterious stalactites, symbol of  "Earth, hell and heaven". In the past, the cave used to set up an altar to pray for peace and prosperity. 

Admire Tien Ca cave

If you want to experience a water cave through the mountain, you should get to Tien Ca cave. You can admire a system of petrified mermaids. To approach the cave, you must transfer by bamboo rafts.

How to get to Thung Nham?

As you know, Thung Nham is about 13,5km from Ninh Binh and 106km from Hanoi city. 

If you depart from Hanoi city, you can transfer with many transportations such as motorbike, bus, train or private car. 

You can take a bus from Giap Bat, My Dinh, Nuoc Ngam bus station. Each 30 minutes, there is a bus to Ninh Binh from Hanoi. The prices range from 100.000 VND to 150.000 VND/person. After, you catch a bus, motorbike to transfer to Thung Nham

You can choose to transfer by train. You get to train on SE7, SE5 or NA1 to Ninh Binh station from Hanoi station. The price of the ticket is from  70,000 - 150,000 VND/person. Come Ninh Binh, you do it the same as transfer by bus to get to Thung Nham. 

If you travel alone or with a couple, you can transfer by motorbike. You will feel freedom and stop on the road to seesighting and take a rest. 

However, renting a private car transfer from Hanoi to Ninh Binh with a driver or booking a Ninh Binh day trip from Hanoi is the best option for you. The trip is flexible, privacy and comfortable.
