The War Remnants Museum is located in district 3, Ho Chi Minh city. Before, the museum was called the Chinese and American War Crimes museum. 

Due to its record the French colonial and conflicts with China. The War Remnants Museum described the war atrocities of the US with Vietnamese people and country. 

There are many pictures, posters reflecting the widespread destruction of Napalm bombs, causing the agent Orange with people. In addition, you will see the collection of posters and photographs about the antiwar movement internationally. 

Saigon War Remnants Museum 

War Remnants Museum is a place  to pay tribute to the photographers who died in the conflict, making contributions to the historical significance of the museum. 

When you are traveling in the War Remnants Museum  , you will see US armored vehicles, artillery pieces, bombs that are displayed in museums. 

Besides, you can only see one corner of the museum which is about South Vietnamese prisons on Phu Quoc and Con Son islands. 

The War Remnants Museum first opened to tourists in 1975 and is one of the oldest museums in Ho Chi Minh city. The museum went through many changes and renovations. 

Currently, Saigon War Remnants Museum is a place to attract internationals such as the US, AU, France... to visit. With more than 49 years from establishment of the museum, this place welcomed more 25 million travelers with more than  13 million foreigners. 

The War Remnants Museum was built including 3 main floors and a total area of 4522 m2. There are more than 20.000 documents, artifacts and films to hold in the museum. 

A part of the brutal truth about the Vietnam War has been exposed in the museum. There are some materials which disturbed with viewers.

What to do in the War Remnants Museum?

Explore the used weapon 

Step pass through the gate of the War Remnants Museum, catching your eye firstly are various heavy weapons which the US Army used in the war with Vietnam like helicopters, aircraft, armored tanks. 

They are displayed in the courtyard. Besides, tourists may see some weapons such as bombs, mines, missiles which are displayed here. All of them had their detonators.

Go to the back yard, tourists may see the Tiger Cages. They are  barbed-wire cages to detained and torture political prisoners in Con Dao island by South Vietnamese government in the stage the Vietnam War. 

Compared to the real Tiger Cages in Con Dao's prison, the replicas of War Remnants Museum only displays a small part of the original exhibition.

On the second floor, you may see the collection "Aftermath of Agent Orange in the devastating war in Vietnam" and "Aggressive war crimes".

More than 80 million liters of toxic chemicals were sprayed to Vietnam by the US, making the Vietnamese lands damaged, about 4,8 million Vietnamese people and the next generations were directly affected. Today, the toxic chemicals still exist in Vietnamese people.

The exhibitions of "Aggressive war crimes" showed the war crimes of the US to the country and people of Vietnam through 125 photos, 243 remnants and 22 documents. The estimate is about 3 million dead, 2 million injured, 300,000 missing and the facilities in the country damaged by the war.

Located on Vo Van Tan and Le Quy Don streets, the War Remnants Museum is one of the best attractions to visit in Ho Chi Minh with foreign.
