Day 1: Ha Giang – Yen Minh

Get yourself to Yen Minh on the very first day. Make a pit stop at Lung Tam, a Hmong village on the road, which is well-known for the weaving it does with flax. You are welcome to pay a visit to the cooperative, where the people working there will walk you through the traditional process from beginning to end and even let you try your hand at some of the steps. After that, you may make a quick visit by the store and contribute to the well-being of the community by purchasing a memento to take home. If you happen to be in the area on the right day, you might also want to visit the market.

You can either take the main road or the more picturesque route along the river to get to Lung Tam from Ha Giang. The river route offers more beautiful scenery. Both provide breathtaking views and a variety of landscapes to explore.

If you travel the road that parallels the Song Lo River, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to pull over at the Little Ma Pi Leng Canyon and take in the scenery.

If you take the main road, be sure to see some of the attractions, such as the Quan Ba Pass and the Twin mountains (when you stop at Quan Ba town, you'll see stairs towards the middle; take them to go to a wonderful outlook). You can also take a short diversion to explore the breathtaking Lung Khuy Cave, which is located close to Quan Ba.

After leaving Lung Tam, take the main road in the direction of Yen Minh. There, you'll find the dormitories and private rooms of Tom Homestay, where you can spend the night.

Day 2: Yen Minh – Ma Le

Visit the Vuong Chinh Duc Palace, sometimes referred to as Dinh Vua Méo, on the second day of your trip. This palace is located in Sa Phin. The palace was constructed at the turn of the 20th century and is a location with a significant amount of history. A guide ought to be included in the 40k cost of the admittance ticket. The palace is open every day until 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

Exit the main road at Sa Phin and continue driving all the way up to the Northernmost Point of Vietnam and the iconic Lung Cu flag tower. You have the option of parking at the gate of Lung Cu or continuing on for a little while farther. It is absolutely necessary to go the entire distance and scale the Lung Cu tower in order to gain the best possible perspective over China and Vietnam. You will come across a plethora of breathtaking vistas and otherworldly settings as you go along this path.

Make your way back to the Lolo village of Ma Le for the night. You can stay at the beautiful Ma Le Homestay, which is located in Ma Le and has a wonderful and incredibly helpful staff. It is highly recommended that you make a detour to this village since not only is it quite pretty, but also many of the homes are built in the traditional style and the locals are very friendly.

Day 3:  Ma Le - Du Gia

The portion of the Ha Giang Loop that travels from Ma Le to Du Gia is without a doubt the most scenic and enjoyable of the entire route.Visit the market in Dong Van and have a wander about; although it is not much different from other markets in Vietnam, it is nevertheless a pleasant place to stop. If you're hungry, you should go to that place and have some of the excellent fried bananas they have there. You can also go to the Dong Van Old Quarter while you're there, which is known for its well-preserved architecture and its fort that overlooks the city.

Next, make your way to Meo Vac; the landscape along the way, from Dong Van all the way to Meo Vac, is just breathtaking. At times, the sky is so overcast that it creates an eerie atmosphere; at other times, you end yourself practically in the clouds with only the peaks of the mountains visible. Make sure to pull over at the Ma Pi Leng Pass so you can take in the scenery, and while you're there, head down to the Nho Que River where you can take a boat trip and discover even more of the area.

From there, you can either travel directly to Du Gia or go via Niem Son on the way there. Both of these routes are viable Du Gia is a small community that is encircled on all sides by mountains and rice paddies. You have the option of staying there for one more night and hiking to some of the nearby waterfalls and/or other nearby settlements if you have the time.

In the area, there are several comfortable bed and breakfasts for visitors to choose from. There are dorms and private rooms available at the Du Ga - Mng Trà Garden Homestay, in addition to a lovely garden and delicious food. This is a good alternative for travelers.

Day 4: Du Gia – Ha Giang

On the fourth day, you have the option of spending some time in Du Gia, taking a walk through the town, and going on a climb to one of the waterfalls in the surrounding area before making your way back to Ha Giang City and concluding the circuit.

Due to the poor condition of the road that connects Du Gia and Ha Giang directly, many travelers opt to complete the final leg of the loop by traveling back to Yen Binh instead of taking the direct route. If you take the shortcut, around 20 kilometers of the road are in really poor condition (dirt road with sections of old concrete and a lot of mud), but it is possible to get through it as long as you do it slowly and carefully.
