Binh Thuy ancient house is one of the best places to visit in Cantho, located at 142/144 Bui Huu Nghia, Binh Thuy, Cantho. This ancient house was constructed in 1807 by the Duong family on nearly 6000 m2 with style of French architecture. 

Currently, Mr Duong Minh Hien is the 6th generation member of the Duong family to protect and reserve the house. 

Binh Thuy house has a vital value in researching the culture and lifestyle of the Mekong Delta's people . In 2009, Binh Thuy ancient house was recognized as a National Architectural and artistic monument.

The ancient house was completed in 1911 and took the name of Binh Thuy (the meaning of Peaceful water ). The purpose of Binh Thuy ancient house is a place of worship for Duong family ancestors. 

Outside the ancient house

Binh Thuy ancient house is not the other ancient house in Can Tho, built with 5 compartments and 2 wings 22m long and 16m2 deep. 

There is more than 10 cm of salt to put under the foundation to keep the house warm and avoid termites. 

Around the house many well-kept bonsai trees and flowers bloom. Behind the house, there are many fruit orchards such as mango, guava, rambutan...

The front house has 5 rooms which used to welcome solemn guests. This place is decorated in European style. The middle house has 3 giants as a place of worship and 2 giants as a place for living.

The back house used as a commonplace and some scenes inside and outside. Getting to the facade of Binh Thuy Ancient House, you will see both sides leading to the main door without a direct staircase. 

With a series of windows along the stairs and many flowers , making the house look cool and airy.

Stepping inside the old house, you will see all of the interior to arrange according to the law of symmetry. The tiles are 100% from France, shipping directly to Vietnam. 

Three main parts of the house are separated by the system of shafts and triplets.
